A Special Enrollment Period lets you enroll in or change Marketplace coverage outside Open Enrollment after a qualifying life event. You usually have 60 days from the event to act.

Common Qualifying Life Events

Losing other coverage (a job change, aging off a parent’s plan, or losing Medicaid), moving to a new area, getting married or divorced, having or adopting a child, and changes in income or citizenship status can all trigger a Special Enrollment Period. You generally have 60 days from the event, and you’ll often need to show proof.
