Guaranteed universal life is designed to guarantee a death benefit to a chosen age (often 90 to 121) at a much lower premium than whole life — with little or no cash value. Think of it as “permanent term”: lifelong protection without paying to build savings.

How GUL Keeps Costs Down

GUL strips out most of the cash-value component of permanent insurance, so more of your premium goes toward the guarantee. As long as you pay the required premium on time, the death benefit is locked in to your chosen age — making it popular for people who want lifelong coverage but don’t need or want to fund cash value.

Best For

  • A guaranteed lifelong payout at the lowest permanent cost
  • Estate liquidity or a legacy without the cost of cash value
  • People who want certainty, not a savings component

Frequently Asked

What if I miss a payment on a GUL policy?

Because the guarantee depends on paying the required premium on schedule, missed or late payments can weaken or void the guarantee. GUL rewards consistency — it’s built for people who will pay reliably.
